Jesus and Paul were banned from more than one official gathering place, too, weren't they? In our diocese in Seattle, I've long known that Richard Rohr was banned, and earlier, Rosemary Radford Reuther. I expect soon I may be among them, not necessarily because of a specific, public stance, but because of an overall unwillingness to stay silent.

I'm so sorry, Rose, that these people will be denied that wisdom and insights. It's no fun for those of us who put together small stipends and call it "a living," but that's also way I've taken up home coffee roasting and offering it for a fair price to friends (it's also "farm gate" coffee, which gives more than 50% higher prices to growers than "fair trade"). Paul had to do leather work; coffee's not too far away, I figure.
