As a 12 year old, I was living in Germany when it went up. I have several wonderful friends who were born as "enemy civilians" in Potsdam, Leipzig and other towns in the former GDR. Here in the US, we were taught they were the enemy, whereas in reality Gudrun Doering, for example, was our sister in Christ, suffering economically and educationally for her Christian commitment."
